On the 26th of April Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. showcased four of its business jets at the 10th annual European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. They are the wide-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G150; the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200; the large-cabin, long-range Gulfstream G450; and the large-cabin, ultra-long-range Gulfstream G550. read more …

On the 18th of March the US Department of Defense (DoD) indicated it would welcome a proposal from EADS North America as prime contractor for the KC-X tanker competition. This is a significant development. EADS is assessing this new situation to determine if the company can feasibly submit a responsive proposal to the Department’s request for proposal (RFP). read more …

The agreement announced in May 2009 is finalized and deliveries began in July São José dos Campos, on April 9, 2010 – The contract for the sale of 20 Embraer 190 jets to Austral Líneas Aéreas, of Argentina, was finalized. The agreement was announced in May 2009, and was conditioned on fulfilling several requirements, which were finalised. read more …

According to Airbus Malaysia Airlines has just recently placed a firm order with Airbus for 17 A330 widebody aircraft. The contract firms up a previously announced Memorandum of Understanding for 15 A330-300 passenger aircraft, plus an additional order for two A330-200F Freighters for operation by the carrier’s subsidiary MASkargo. Deliveries of the passenger aircraft will begin in the first half of 2011, with the first freighter joining the MASkargo fleet later the same year. read more …

BAE System announced on the 22nd of March that their test pilot Graham “GT” Tomlinson took to the skies and successfully completed the first ever vertical landing of the short take off vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II (also known as the Joint Strike Fighter) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland. read more …

According to a report in the Copenhagen Post on the 16th of March, the Joint Strike Fighter saga (with the Danish Government) has apparently come to an end after several years of negotiations with the US government. After a week where it was announced there would be yet another price increase for potential buyers, the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is no longer being considered by the Danish Defence Command as a replacement for its aging F-16s war planes, reports public broadcaster DR. read more …

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, today announced that a contract has been signed by the Government of India for the acquisition of twelve AW101 helicopters that will perform government transport duties. The contract, valued at around € 560 million, includes an extensive five year logistic support service and initial aircrew and technician training. read more …

On Thursday the 4th of March the Boeing Company announced that it will offer the Boeing NewGen Tanker in the competition to supply the U.S. Air Force with a multi-mission aerial refueling aircraft that will meet all the warfighter’s mission requirements for the next several decades. read more …

The 19th day of Feb 2010, was marked with the take off of the Indian Navy’s new fighter aircraft – the MiG-29K with it’s full afterburners. The new fighter displayed its agility by breaking into an almost vertical climb within seconds after take off. This was part of the ceremony to formally induct MiG-29K ’Air Dominance Fighter’ aircraft, into the Indian Navy. The grand ceremony to formally induct the aircraft into the Indian Navy was held at INS Hansa, Vasco da Gama, Goa. read more …
